Friend of the Alamo Scouts Passes Away…

The ASHF family is saddened by the loss of Ray Wilbur, Sr., on Friday, January 6, 2016.  Ray served in the Pacific aboard PT-495, and was wounded in action on November 19, 1944 while delivering Alamo Scouts on a resupply mission in the Camotes Islands.  Ray attended the 2013 ASHF Reunion in Florida, where he reunited with Alamo Scout John Geiger, who was aboard the boat and helped tend to Wilbur’s wounds. Ray was a gentleman of the highest order, and he will be missed. Condolences to his son, Ray, daughter Dawn Vessels, and to the entire family for their loss.

My name is Frederick William Bradshaw Morrill. I am colonel Bradshaws namesake and grandson. May I please offer my deepest respects and wishes for family. I was lucky enough to spend an evening with the last of these guys years ago with my mother connie bradshaw the colonels daughter and lance zedric. I would very much enjoy a discussion with any relatives that knew my grandfather or any of the Scouts children. I hold my grandest memory and my mom now in highest regard, and I’m a student of history. I have much memorabilia and would appreciat any stories told at the bar over a beer or around the va or whereever pertaining to the exploits of these guys. Once again my deepest respects to the family and please pass this on.

I want to thank Russ Blaise and all of the Alamo Scouts Historical Foundation, for the wonderful article published on January 9th about my father’s passing. I’ve not visited this website for a while, and I’m deeply touched reading this. My family and I appreciate it. My dad touched so many lives in his 91 years and he’s missed by everyone that knew him. I’ve personally kept in touch with Alamo Scout Jack Geiger, since meeting him at the 2013 Alamo Scouts reunion in Florida. Jack attended my Dad’s memorial services with his daughter Barbara Geiger Leddy, in Fall River, MA on Jan. 21, 2017. It was an honor to have them there.
Thank you again, for your condolences and kind words.

My name is Don Gerow. I am the son in law of fellow scout William R Watson of Reynolds team. My condolence nice to the family, I know first hand what great men the scouts were and they all will be missed. William has just recently passed. And his funeral was this past Saturday. I do not understand how to post this to this site. Any chance I could be guided to get help with it. Thank you in advance, and again, my condolences. Don Gerow
